Preamble from the Author and PublisherIt is our belief that Northern Journey contributes to the advocacy of Canadian folk music, and we wish to make this resource available to the widest possible audience. In return, we ask those who find it useful to consider purchasing the printed book from Reference Press. Sales of the print edition are what keep the Northern Journey Project afloat.
The advantage of having a parallel electronic edition is that material can be kept more up to date. The current plan is to issue periodic releases of the electronic edition until there is enough new material to warrant the cost of printing a new book edition.
We hope you enjoy this electronic publication. Please tell your friends about the online version of Northern Journey. We encourage you to support Canadian musicians by attending their performances and purchasing their recordings. Check the listings from folk clubs and music venues in your area for performance information. We welcome your comments and suggestions, and thank you for taking the time to visit this site.

The instrument in the NJO logo at the top of the page is a Glen Reid acoustic bass guitar, similar to the one played by the author. The strap in the logo is based on the author's guitar strap custom-tooled by Rick Fielding. The logo design was created by Debra Luneau, webmaster at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto.
