The Arrogant Worms

(Contemporary; Humour; Singer-Songwriter)

At the edges of folk festivals you often find clowns and jesters. Occasionally they make music and end up on stage. On their debut album, Arrogant Worms, the group presents a mix of off-the-wall lyrics done in a variety of styles from folk ("The Last Saskatchewan Pirate") to reggae ("The Credit Song") to rock ("Let's Go Bowling"). Russell's Shorts (1994), their second CD, delivers the zaniness of songs such as "Carrot Juice Is Murder" and "Killer Robots from Venus." The album also achieves a more respectable duration. C'est Cheese (1995) continues the format with numbers such as "Kill the Dog Next Door," "Sex, Drugs & RRSPs," and "Proud to be a Banker." These CDs are fun and decently performed. The Arrogant Worms consist of Mike McCormick, Trevor Strong, John Whytock, and Steve Wood.
