Manitoba singer-songwriter Heather Bishop is one of Canada's more independent artists, following a muse that doesn't follow any predictable musical styles or channels. Her fresh, intimate, lyrics are combined in arrangements that are more pop than folk, but there's a rootsiness to her work that springs from the Prairies. Folkies new to her work may want to try one of her earlier albums, A Taste of the Blues, to test the waters.
