Bourne & MacLeod

(Contemporary; Singer-Songwriter)

Alberta-based Bill Bourne and Alan MacLeod, both former Tannahill Weavers, put together one of the most infectious, unique sounds to hit the festival circuit in the early 90's. Bourne's striking voice and syncopated lyrics combine with MacLeod's inspired bagpipe accompaniment to create a fresh, joyous sound. Dance & Celebrate is aptly named--one of the most enduring and listenable albums released in 1991, it was awarded a 1991 Juno in the "Roots & Traditional" category. Moonlight Dancers, from 1992, is cut from the same mould and it, too, is an extremely danceable album. Both are highly recommended.
