There's something refreshingly honest about old-time country music and it is remarkable to hear a recent album like Bonnie Brigant & Clare Adlam in an age when country is dominated by Nashville and "new country." Clare Adlam, the producer and songwriter of the album, is mostly known as a fiddler. A native of Grey County, Ontario, Adlam released many albums of fiddle music and was a regular performer on the Wingham, Ontario, CKNX Barndance with Earl Heywood in the 50's and 60's. Bonnie Brigant grew up in eastern Ontario, singing in church choirs. She gave up a potential career in country music to raise her family and is only now getting back into recording. This album of country vocals, broken up with a few fiddle tunes, is delightfully old fashioned. The vocals are somewhat rough when measured by pop/folk standards.
