Cape Breton Chorale

(Traditional; Contemporary; Choral)

The Cape Breton Chorale is a mixed chorus of fifty-five voices. Founded in Sydney, Nova Scotia, in 1973, it includes members from many communities in Cape Breton. Their album, Songs of Atlantic Canada, is more tightly focused on music of the region than are the albums of similar Maritimes choral groups. In addition to two Rita MacNeil songs--"Home I'll Be" and "Working Man"--the Chorale performs a traditional song collected by folklorist Helen Creighton, "The Hills and Glens" and Kenzie MacNeil's "The Island." Those who enjoy choral performances of folk music will enjoy this album.
