Cindy Church's voice has been gracing the airways for years as the backup vocalist for Ian Tyson and, more recently, as a member of the supergroup Quartette. Her first solo album, Love on the Range, highlights her outstanding vocals in a set of country/western songs that include some Church originals such as "Road To Home," "Cowgirl's Lullaby," and "Tonight He's Mine."
On Just A Little Rain Church steps forward with her second solo recording and it's a dandy. With material that spans country, western, folk, honky tonk, and blues, Church displays an impressive versatility. Just a Little Rain is a more confident, polished recording than her 1994 album, Love on the Range.
Backed as usual by husband and fellow musician Nathan Tinkham on guitars as well as a number of top-rate studio musicians (including a guest appearance by Amos Garrett) Church's soft, intimate, expressive voice ranges through songs by the likes of Tim Williams, Nathan Tinkham, Roy Forbes, Chris Whiteley, Shirley Eikhard, not to mention two fine co-written originals. Church's many fans will find this album a delightful offering from an ever-maturing, major talent.
