An Còmhlan (pronounced caw-laan) is a group of performers who were brought together for this special recording of traditional Nova Scotia Gaelic song, story and music. Tìr Mo Ghràidh (1996) succeeds admirably in its mission. From the piping of Barry Shears to the Gaelic story telling of Rosemary McCormack to the fiddling of Buddy MacMaster, the album is well-executed, understated tribute to the Celtic heritage of Nova Scotia. The variety provided--singing, piping, fiddling and story telling--keeps the album fresh throughout. Produced by Al Bennett, the artists include Barry Shears, Margo Carruthers, Ryan MacNeil, Kenneth Morrison, Neil MacPhee, Winnie Chafe , Patricia Cafe MacKinnon, Lewis MacKinnon, Rosemary McCormack, Buddy MacMaster, and Mary Elizabeth MacMaster.
