Joe Cormier

(Fiddle)

Cape Breton French-Acadian Joe Cormier absorbed the local Scottish tradition of fiddle playing during his youth. Directly influenced by Angus Chisholm and, especially, Winston Fitzgerald, Cormier developed a unique style with heavily emphasized triplet bowing. Joseph Cormier and Friends captures the sprightly energy of Cormier's style. Cormier received the Winston `Scotty' Fitgerald Porcupine Award in 1995. A recommended album for collectors of Canadian fiddle music.
