Cravan Spirit

(Traditional; Contemporary; Singer-Songwriter)

Cravan Spirit, now disbanded, was a folk duo consisting of Bill Crawford and Ed VandenDool who, along with Linda Crawford, have run the Caledonia Folk Club, in Caledonia, Ontario. With soft voices and harmonies somewhat reminiscent of early Simon and Garfunkel, Cravan Spirit mixes a few original songs among covers of material by contemporary songwriters. Their debut album, Singing The Spirit Home, includes songs by Nick Kier, Dan Seals, Si Kahn, Dougie Maclean, Eric Bogle, and Dick Gaughan, as well as "Bill's Caledonia," by Crawford and "Rest Sweet Child," by VandenDool. Guest artists on this recording include Allison Lupton, flute, Donald McGeoch, whistle, and Brian Morton on keyboards.
