Susan Crowe

(Contemporary; Singer-Songwriter)

Halifax singer-songwriter Susan Crowe, now living in British Columbia, has returned to recording after a decade's absence. With the release of This Far from Home (1994), fans can once again listen to her engaging alto voice and sure lyrics. Her quiet exploration of relationships, as heard on "Faithless" and "On Your Way to Mars," rank her among the strongest of contemporary lyricists. This album, which was nominated for a Juno award, is highly recommended.

The Door to the River (1996) continues Crowe's lyrical explorations and fine vocals. Crowe's maturity as a songwriter, and the excellence of the production of the album itself, mark this as another good purchase for those who enjoy contemporary Canadian songwriting.
