Brian Gregg

(Contemporary; Singer-Songwriter)

Born and raised in Edmonton, Albert, Brian Gregg has played in pub and dance bands since 1967. He is also a veteran busker. Electronic Busker, issued as a commercial release in 1998, was originally released in a not-for-sale format which he simply gave to people. The opening song, "Electronic Busker," explained where people could send donations if they liked the CD (c/o General Delivery, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 2G8). In this experiment, over 1000 CD's were given away and nearly half of those who received a copy responded with a donation. Some of the stranger donations included "an onion and some home made venison jerky." The album is now available to a wider audience. All the songs on the album are Gregg originals and all are interesting commentaries and observations on life. Gregg has a knack for offbeat lyrics. As the album title suggests, the arrangements are electric. Word is that Gregg is now at work on a second, acoustic album. Perhaps this one will be called Busker Unplugged? If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, this album will stand out from the rest of your collection.
