Tom Jackson

(First Nations; Contemporary; Christmas; Singer-Songwriter)

Winnipeg-based Tom Jackson, actor and star of the Canadian TV series North of 60, is also a singer-songwriter. His first CD, The Huron Carole is a collection of Christmas songs with the net proceeds of album sales going to the Salvation Army. The album shows him to have a decent, if not especially powerful, voice. His second CD, No Regrets, is a middle-of-the-road folkish, countryish pop album. Songs like "No Regrets," "Humble Me," and "Song for a Lady" are interesting compositions well played by his backup musicians. This album doesn't shake up anything on the musical Richter scale, but it's a good workmanlike set of tunes that Jackson fans will enjoy.
