Killiecrankie

(Traditional; Celtic)

The Southern Ontario Scottish group Killiecrankie was one of the most engaging Celtic bands playing the folk-festival circuit. With an inspired choice of material and confident, sure playing, Killiecrankie belongs in every CD collection. The Haggis Egg, their second release, and the first available on compact disc, features their gentle, effective vocals mixed with satisfying instrumental medleys. Highlights include "Bonnie George Campbell," "Rantin Rovin Robin," and "The Bonnie Earl of Moray." Haggis Egg is a disc that sneaks up on you. At first you like it, then you begin to like it very much, and soon it becomes one of your most played recordings. Highly recommended. Killiecrankie is Andrea Barstad, Bill Aitken, Allison Lupton, and Martin Smit. Killiecrankie disbanded in 1996.
