Music of the inuit: the Copper Eskimo Tradition / Musique Des intuit: La Tradition Des Eskimos Du Cuivre is an album of field recordings. The inuit people of the Northwest Territories have sustained a long history of song and music and the album captures some of the essence of this tradition. The extensive liner notes explain the importance of songs and dance songs during trade exchanges, and how even inuit children were expected to create and perform their own songs. Serious folklorists should consider this Unesco recording.
