And I rose
In rainy autumn
And walked abroad in a shower of all my days.
--Dylan Thomas, Poem in October
My musings have slowed down since I acquired a new Canon Digital Rebel (300D) digital SLR. I'm spending most of my time taking, Photoshop'ing and organizing photos, with not enough time left over to write about them. In addition, there's always a lull in the spirit in autumn when I like to sit back and contemplate without attempting to articulate anything. I'm emerging from my lethargy.
Thinking back to last weekend I'm reminded again how much I enjoy rain. After ten parched years of living in the Arizona desert, I still revel in water in all its forms. I'm drawn to the Port Credit harbour over and over just to be there, and if I'm lucky, find something to photograph.

Rainy Morning in the Harbour
(click on image for a larger, clearer view)On Sunday a light rain prevented me from trying some shots with my new telephoto lens, but the rain brought its own mood and beauty. The rain falling on the river was hypnotic. Little dappled, repeating impact circles spread out from shore to shore. A grey sky and muted colours.

Grass & Raindrops
(click on image for a larger, clearer view)The rain became progressively heavier and I didn't want my gear to get too wet so I packed up for the walk home, but decided to take the long way around, by the marina. I had no sooner started down the sidewalk when all I could see was diamond-sparkles in the tall grasses and plants. Umbrella up, camera in one hand, umbrella in the other, thankful I had my kit lens which auto focuses quite well even in macro range, I took many shots. A few of the images turned out well.
