I'm in a crazy job situation (corporation taken over by a larger corporation). I'll be packaged out sometime between now and Nov 30/2004. Those of you who have been kept on in a 'transition' role in these situations know it's awkward, unrewarding, and even depressing. You go from being a key player to being a hamburger flipper for the new company, until they let you go. So I needed comfort and quite frankly I indulged myself. I picked up a slightly used Canon S45 digital camera from one of my most trusted online dealers, KEH (Atlanta).
Did I need yet another camera? Of course not. Did I want a small, pocketable, carryaround digicam? You bet. My Digital Rebel is not the kind of camera I want to carry back and forth to work and my Canon G2 is slightly too large to be a good 'go everywhere' unit. So, I indulged. The camera came in last Wednesday evening and my first day of shooting was Thursday, March 11. Here are some shots (Toronto) from Day One:
